Biologic Therapy Improves Work Hours but Workforce Risk Remains

A Danish cohort study of 381 severe asthma patients found that biologic therapy led to a modest increase in work hours (aIRR 1.03) after two years. However, patients remained at higher risk of workforce withdrawal (OR 1.83–2.67) due to sick leave, unemployment, and disability. Patients achieving remission had stronger workforce attachment. While biologics offer some benefits, long-term employment challenges persist for severe asthma patients.
