BMI Influences Lung Function Trajectories from Childhood to Adulthood

Higher BMI impacts lung function changes across life stages. Airflow obstruction worsens more between adolescence and early adulthood (61.5%) than in childhood (32.6%). Among wheezers, higher BMI lowers improvement chances (RRR 0.69), while in non-wheezers, it increases them (RRR 1.38). Low birthweight and asthma further alter these effects. Optimizing healthy weight could improve lung function and reduce respiratory issues from childhood to adulthood.
