Botulinum Toxin A for Postoperative Scar Management: A Review

The meta-analysis reviewed 12 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 351 patients to assess botulinum toxin type A’s effectiveness in postoperative facial scar management. The study found reduced scar width and improved outcomes on VAS and VSS scores, though adverse effects were not significantly different (OR 1.74). Despite some heterogeneity, botulinum toxin A can potentially prevent postoperative scarring with minimal side effects.
