Breastfeeding characteristics significantly impact infants' oral microbiome. The study, with 55 oral swabs from 3-month-olds, found associations between breastfeeding duration, frequency, and milk intake and specific microbial communities. Longer breastfeeding duration was linked to higher Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus gasseri, while breastfeeding frequency was negatively associated with Veillonella sp. Milk intake was negatively linked to Streptococcus parasanguinis, highlighting breastfeeding's influence on microbial development.
