In the study,98 participants were assigned to receive either canagliflozin or standard treatment. Results showed a significant reduction in the geometric mean percentage change in urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) by 30.8% in the canagliflozin group compared to controls. Additionally, the canagliflozin group exhibited a 4.4 ml/min/1.73 m² per year improvement in the eGFR slope compared to the control group, particularly in those with a faster eGFR decline. Canagliflozin effectively decreased albuminuria and slowed eGFR decline, suggesting that individual eGFR slope changes could be a valuable metric for evaluating new kidney therapies.
