The study investigated the effects of repeated capsaicin gel application on thermal sensory and pain thresholds in the oral cavity. Ten healthy females applied capsaicin gel to their gingival mucosa twice daily for 14 days, assessing heat pain, warm detection, cold pain, and cold detection thresholds before and after the treatment. Results showed significant increases in heat pain and warm detection thresholds in the anterior maxilla and mandible, with no changes in the control group. These findings highlight thermal sensory testing as a useful tool for evaluating pain therapies.
