The study evaluated the pharmacokinetics of cefiderocol, a siderophore cephalosporin active against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) and acute pulmonary exacerbation (APE). Nine participants received cefiderocol with dosing based on renal function. Optimal free time above MIC (fT >MIC) was achieved for pathogens with MICs ≤8 mg/L and the drug was well-tolerated. Pharmacokinetic parameters were consistent with previous data in non-CF patients, supporting its use in this population.

However, further longitudinal research is needed to establish its clinical value in glaucoma assessment and aqueous outflow evaluation.
