Central obesity and its association with retinal age gap: insights from the UK Biobank study

The study analyzed 35,550 participants and found individuals with higher BMI and waist circumference (WC) showed an increased retinal age gap, suggesting faster aging. Those with overweight/high WC, mild obesity/high WC, and severe obesity/high WC had the greatest differences compared to the normal-weight/normal WC group. The findings emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy body shape to potentially slow down the aging process.
