
Improved survival rates for lung cancer have introduced new challenges, notably the risk of second primary lung cancer (SPLC) in long-term survivors. This review discusses the increased incidence of SPLC due to advances in treatment and detection. It highlights the need for improved surveillance, accurate differentiation from metastases, and the potential role of genomic and blood biomarkers in managing SPLC. Addressing these issues is crucial for effective patient care.
