Characteristics and outcomes of patients with a history of cancer recruited to heart failure trials

The study examines the association between cancer history and outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients with reduced or preserved ejection fraction. The authors combined data from four trials and found that HF patients with a history of cancer had a higher risk of HF hospitalization and non-cardiovascular death in HF with reduced ejection fraction but not in those with preserved ejection fraction. Incident cancer diagnoses were similar in both types of HF patients. The study highlights the importance of considering cancer history in HF patients when assessing prognosis and developing treatment strategies.
