The study investigated the genomic and transcriptomic profiles of high‐risk gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) patients. Despite adjuvant imatinib treatment, 40% experienced relapse within three years. By analyzing primary tumor samples, the research identified increased chromosomal instability as a distinguishing factor in metastatic GISTs, potentially serving as a novel prognostic biomarker. This discovery could aid in predicting poor outcomes post-treatment. GIST patients' management might improve with tailored approaches based on individual tumor characteristics.
