Clinical Significance of Ischemic Myocardial Fibrosis in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A CMR Study

The study examines ischemic myocardial fibrosis (I-LGE) in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). Patients with HCM were categorized into three groups based on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) patterns: HCM without LGE, HCM with I-LGE, and HCM with nonischemic myocardial fibrosis (NI-LGE). Results show that HCM with I-LGE exhibits significant left ventricular hypertrophy, extensive LGE, and reduced ejection fraction compared to other groups, highlighting the importance of considering ischemic fibrosis in HCM risk assessment.
