CMV-cfDNA as a Potential Biomarker for Severe Fetal cCMV

CMV-cfDNA as a Potential Biomarker for Severe Fetal cCMV

CMV-cfDNA may indicate severe fetal cCMV in early pregnancy. A study of nine women found detectable CMV-cfDNA at all stages, with low levels at 11–13 weeks and high levels at diagnosis. Case 6 showed a drop post-TOP, suggesting CMV-cfDNA may indicate placental infection rather than active maternal infection. Further studies are needed to assess its predictive value for fetal cCMV severity.
