The study concludes that cochlear implantation leads to a significant improvement in the quality of life and a reduction in perceived tinnitus severity for adults with asymmetric or unilateral hearing loss. The results show that the perceived tinnitus severity differed for the two groups over time, but the improvement in quality of life was maintained with long-term device use. The use of questionnaires such as the THI, SSQ, and APHAB may provide a more comprehensive assessment of the benefits of cochlear implantation in this population.
