A total of 120 patients were analyzed to assess the efficacy of combining nucleoside analogues (NAs) and pegylated interferon alpha (PegIFN-2b) for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) treatment. The study found that 59.1% of patients achieved clinical cure, with baseline hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels and age serving as significant predictors of HBsAg clearance. Predictive models showed strong accuracy, with areas under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.907 pre-treatment, 0.958 at 12 weeks, and 0.747 at 24 weeks. The study highlighted the effectiveness of the combination therapy and emphasized the need for further research into additional factors affecting treatment outcomes.
