A study assessed treatment for aggressive Merkel cell carcinoma. Standard care is anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy. Patients received combined nivolumab/ipilimumab, with or without SBRT. Results from 50 patients (24 ICI-naive, 26 with previous ICI exposure) showed high response rates (ORR) with first-line treatment (100% ORR in ICI-naive, 31% in previously treated). Comparable ORRs between groups with/without SBRT. Side effects observed in both groups. Combined nivolumab/ipilimumab offers effective and safe first-line and salvage treatment for Merkel cell carcinoma, with SBRT not enhancing efficacy.
