The study examines communication strategies used by Portuguese health professionals (HP) and senior health professional students (SHPS) when interacting with people with aphasia (PWA). A survey completed by 223 participants revealed that verbal and visual strategies were most commonly used. These strategies aimed at improving comprehension, and expression, and revealing PWA’s competence. However, the study highlights a potential lack of understanding of PWAs’ competencies and suggests integrating more training into HP curricula.
