Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBCB) proves as safe and effective as transbronchial lung forceps biopsy (TBFB) for diagnosing lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), with a comparable diagnostic rate (66.7% vs. 66.0%). TBCB identifies more cases in patients with minimal cystic profusion (26.3%) than TBFB (4.9%). Surgical lung biopsy (SLB) remains crucial for cases where TBCB yields negative results. TBCB demonstrates a favorable safety profile, with fewer instances of pneumothorax and bleeding compared to TBFB. The study suggests TBCB as a viable alternative for LAM diagnosis, particularly in cases with minimal cystic profusion.
