This prospective study at Banaras Hindu University's Ear Nose and Throat Department analyzed mastoid obliteration methods' surgical outcomes in 60 cholesteatoma patients undergoing canal wall down mastoid surgery. Groups were treated with muscle flap, bone dust, or hydroxyapatite. At 1 month, muscle flap showed significant improvement over bone dust and bone dust over hydroxyapatite. By 3 months, all groups demonstrated significant improvement. Muscle flap and bone dust yielded better results than hydroxyapatite in reducing pain, discharge, giddiness, and wax formation and promoting early cavity healing.
