Comparing CABG and PCI for Survival in Severe Ischaemic Cardiomyopathy

This study analyzed data from cardiac registries to compare long-term survival in patients with severe ischaemic cardiomyopathy treated by coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) versus percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Using propensity score analysis, CABG showed a significant survival benefit over PCI, with a 41% reduced mortality risk over a median follow-up of four years. However, CABG patients faced higher risks of peri-procedural stroke and longer hospital stays, highlighting the need for further trials to confirm optimal revascularization strategies.
