A study evaluated the effectiveness of intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for patients with grade I-III knee osteoarthritis, comparing single, triple, and quintuple treatments. Out of 120 patients randomly assigned to three groups (PRP1, PRP3, PRP5), 106 completed the study. All groups showed significant improvements in knee pain, stiffness, and physical function over 52 weeks. Triple and quintuple injections were more effective than a single injection, but there was no significant difference between three and five injections. Mild side effects were reported in all groups. The study suggests that three PRP injections offer a safe and effective treatment option for knee osteoarthritis, with results similar to five injections.
