The study aimed to evaluate the risk of complications in women undergoing termination of pregnancy (TOP) for fetal defects and determine the impact of gestational age on complication rates. The study analyzed data from 416 women with singleton pregnancies who underwent TOP at a hospital in Germany between 2018 and 2021. The results showed that the overall complication rate was 22.8%. Complications were more frequent in later trimesters, with rates of 27.0% and 27.8% in the second and third trimesters, respectively. The study concludes that the risk of complications increases as gestational age advances in women undergoing TOP for fetal defects.
