Comprehensive Molecular Profiling of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Unveils Newly Identified Tumor Suppressor Genes and Prognostic Biomarkers

A comprehensive study of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), a head and neck malignancy, aimed to improve patient outcomes. The study analyzed 598 ACC cases, with data from 366 patients, the largest cohort to date. Findings revealed that copy number losses in 1p36 and the tumor suppressor gene PARK2 (6q26) are prognostic biomarkers. Patients with both losses had significantly shorter survival. Additionally, two pro-apoptotic genes, TP73 and KIF1B, were identified as potential tumor suppressors associated with poor survival. PARK2 was found to be a tumor suppressor in ACC. This study offers critical insights for patient stratification in clinical trials.
