Concurrent carboplatin and paclitaxel definitive radiation therapy for locally advanced head and neck cancer

A recent study evaluated the effectiveness of chemoradiation using carboplatin and paclitaxel in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) who were ineligible for cisplatin treatment. The results showed that this treatment approach achieved favorable outcomes, with 2-year rates of locoregional recurrences and distant metastases at 8.8% and 9.4%, respectively. Progression-free and overall survival rates were 72.2% and 88.7%, respectively. The study suggests that carboplatin and paclitaxel can benefit cisplatin-ineligible HNSCC patients.
