
A study conducted in Denmark compared placental function in pregnancies with confined placental mosaicism (CPM) and those without. Placental volume, placental transverse relaxation time (T2*), fetal weight, and uterine artery pulsatility index (UtA-PI) were measured using MRI and ultrasound. The results showed that CPM pregnancies had a larger but dysfunctional placenta compared to non-CPM pregnancies. Placental dysfunction was more common in high-risk CPM pregnancies involving specific chromosomes (2, 3, 7, 13, or 16). This study highlights the relationship between placental function and chromosomal subtype in CPM pregnancies.
