Researchers have developed a reliable prediction model for hyponatremia (low sodium levels) in patients experiencing acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). Analyzing data from 532 ADHF patients, factors such as NYHA cardiac function classification, systolic blood pressure, and certain blood markers were identified as independent predictors of hyponatremia. The model, created using R software, displayed strong accuracy (AUC = 0.757) and precise calibration, demonstrating its effectiveness in foreseeing hyponatremia in ADHF patients. This development addresses the current lack of specific screening tools for this common electrolyte imbalance in heart failure patients.
