A study of continuous subcutaneous hydrocortisone infusion (CSHI) for managing adrenal insufficiency highlighted its potential benefits. Analyzing six studies with 63 participants, CSHI was associated with a significant reduction in the average daily dose of hydrocortisone from 47.5 mg to 31.4 mg and a decrease in hospital admissions for adrenal crisis from 2.6 to 1.3 per year. The study reported notable improvements in quality of life and subjective well-being. These findings suggest that CSHI enhances patient satisfaction and reduces hospitalizations, offering a promising alternative to traditional oral hormone replacement therapy.
