Conventional Lifestyle Interventions on Type 2 Diabetes Incidence by Glucose-Defined Prediabetes Phenotype

Examining lifestyle interventions' impact on type 2 diabetes incidence in glucose-defined prediabetes phenotypes, a meta-analysis of four trials (2,794 participants) revealed distinct outcomes. After 2.5 years, hazard ratios for diabetes incidence were: i-IFG 0.97 (no significant reduction), i-IGT 0.65 (reduction), and IFG+IGT 0.51 (significant reduction). Conventional lifestyle interventions proved effective in lowering diabetes risk for individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), emphasizing phenotype-specific responses.
