Using bidirectional and multivariable Mendelian randomization, this large-scale genetic analysis found that COPD increases tuberculosis risk (particularly in patients <65), while tuberculosis does not increase COPD risk. GWAS data from over 600,000 individuals supported this unidirectional association. Findings emphasize the need for enhanced TB screening and prevention strategies in COPD populations, especially early-onset cases.
