The study assessed whether COVID-19 vaccines were linked to serious adverse events (AESI) and health care utilization in adults with IBD in Ontario, Canada. Using data from December 2020 to January 2022, analyses showed no increase in AESI post-vaccination among 88,407 IBD patients. Fewer all-cause hospitalizations and varied ED visits were observed post-vaccination. No rise in gastroenterologist or IBD-related health care use was found. The study suggests COVID-19 vaccination does not increase disease activity in IBD patients.
