The study investigated the effects of deep brain stimulation (DBS) on adult neurogenesis in the subventricular zone of Parkinson's and Huntington's disease patients. Postmortem brain samples showed that long-term DBS significantly increased subventricular zone thickness, proliferating cell density, and stem cell activation, promoting neurogenesis. These findings highlight the potential of DBS in enhancing neurogenesis and neuronal plasticity in neurodegenerative conditions.
