Delayed skin grafting protocol following Integra™ application for non‐radiated scalp reconstruction for decreased wound depth and improved contour

Integra™, a dermal regeneration template, initially FDA-approved in 1996, has found expanded clinical use in scalp reconstruction. This innovative technique benefits elderly patients with various medical conditions. The traditional approach involves applying Integra™ and grafting skin within 1-2 weeks, usually within 30-52 days. However, there's no established timeframe for applying STSG after neodermis regeneration. This study introduces a novel protocol by the senior author involving a 6-week maturation period for Integra™ before skin grafting. This approach has consistently delivered excellent outcomes, enhancing cosmetic appearance and patient satisfaction.
