
Delhi's first heat stroke unit has been set up at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to address heatwave conditions. Inaugurated by Union Health Ministry's Additional Secretary, Roli Singh, the unit treats heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke. It has state-of-the-art equipment and a team of experts to provide specialized care. The ministry advises hospitals to prepare ice packs, glucose, and ORS for emergencies. Dr. Seema Wasnik, who leads the unit, highlighted the importance of rapid cooling to reduce heat stroke risks. The unit includes a cooling tub and an ice-making machine, emphasizing Delhi's focus on public health during extreme heat.
