A recent study in Peru examined the mental health of medical students during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study involved 405 students and found a high prevalence of depressive (71.6%), anxious (71.9%), and stress (62.7%) symptoms. Factors associated with these symptoms included eating behavior disorders, lack of regular physical activity, academic exhaustion, and gender. Male students had a lower prevalence of these symptoms, and those who slept 8 or more hours daily had lower stress symptoms. The study suggests a need for regular mental health evaluations and counseling support in medical schools to address these concerning findings.
