
Resin-based dental materials, widely used for restorations, face challenges like secondary caries due to acidogenic bacteria and biodegradation. Recent focus is on bioactive resins with antimicrobial properties to prevent caries. The review discusses developing novel bioactive resins using multiple agents for antibiofilm, remineralization, and antimicrobial effects. Challenges include maintaining material properties and clinical performance, and addressing vulnerabilities like particle aggregation, color changes, and loss of core properties. The study emphasizes the need for efficient and safe anticaries agents for durable bioactive resin development, highlighting ongoing efforts, constraints, clinical performance, and advancements in dental material implementation.
