
A new study has unveiled a groundbreaking technique to predict rapid plaque progression (RPP) in coronary arteries, a significant risk factor for acute coronary syndromes. Researchers developed a coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) radiomics signature (RS) that outperforms conventional plaque assessment methods. The RS, created using the XGBoost method, demonstrated superior predictive accuracy for RPP in both the development and validation groups. Multivariable analysis confirmed RS as an independent predictor of RPP, marking a crucial advancement in identifying high-risk plaques. This innovative use of radiomics offers promising potential for predicting RPP in low-risk patients undergoing CCTA, enhancing early intervention prospects.
