A trial with 160 patients explored inducing type 2 diabetes remission using a 12-week intervention of lifestyle changes, insulin glargine/lixisenatide, and metformin. Participants achieving glycated haemoglobin <7.3% at 12 weeks stopped diabetes medications. The intervention reduced diabetes relapse by 43%, and remission was achieved in 38% of the intervention group compared to 19.8% of controls at 24 weeks. This approach offers the potential for diabetes remission through combined therapy.
