Diagnosis of prostate cancer by combining Proclarix with magnetic resonance imaging

The study evaluated the clinical performance of Proclarix, a novel biomarker test, alone or in combination with mpMRI in predicting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa). The Proclarix-MRI model, combining prostate volume, Proclarix, and mpMRI results, was trained and validated, and its diagnostic performance was compared to clinical parameters and risk calculators. The Proclarix-MRI model showed a sensitivity of 90% and a negative predictive value of 90%, with a specificity of 68%, significantly better than other markers alone. Proclarix was useful in the MRI PI-RADS 3 subgroup, outperforming PSA density in terms of specificity. The study suggests that Proclarix combined with mpMRI can reliably predict csPCa and reduce unnecessary biopsies.
