A recent study delves into the diagnostic and prognostic significance of aminoterminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in Heart Failure with Mid-Range Ejection Fraction (HFmrEF) patients, categorized by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The study examined 755 HFmrEF patients from 2016 to 2022 and found NT-proBNP's elevated levels (median 5394 pg/mL vs. 1655 pg/mL) correlate with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The diagnostic efficacy is notable in patients with eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min (AUC = 0.800), while no diagnostic value is observed in eGFR < 30 mL/min. NT-proBNP levels exceeding 3946 pg/mL predict higher 30-month all-cause mortality rates (57.7% vs. 34.4%).
