
A study evaluated 1738 adults aged 40 to 70 over 6.1 years to explore the link between carbohydrate quality index (CQI), protein score, and metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk. Higher CQI and protein scores were associated with a decreased risk of MetS. Notably, the whole grain/total grains ratio within CQI components exhibited a significant inverse association with MetS risk. These findings underscore the potential of dietary patterns rich in quality carbohydrates and protein in mitigating MetS risk among adults.
