A study in Iran investigated the link between dietary patterns and colorectal cancer (CRC). Utilizing an empirical lifestyle index for hyperinsulinemia (ELIH) and an empirical dietary index for hyperinsulinemia (EDIH), the study found significant differences in ELIH score, fibre intake, aspirin use, and family history between controls and CRC cases. Higher scores in both ELIH and EDIH were associated with increased CRC odds. The study suggests that lifestyle and diet with insulinemic potential may influence CRC risk.
