A recent cohort study using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data (2003-2018) reveals a potential link between higher dietary niacin intake and reduced all-cause mortality risk in individuals with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Analyzing 4315 adults aged 20 or older with NAFLD, the study found those with niacin intake of 26.7 mg or higher had a 30% lower risk of all-cause mortality compared to those with 18.4 mg or lower. However, no significant inverse association was observed for cardiovascular disease mortality. The findings suggest a potential health benefit of increased niacin intake for NAFLD patients.
