The study aimed to investigate the association between sleep quality and homeostatic and hedonic eating behaviors in children with a healthy weight but varying maternal weight status. 77 children aged 7.4 years participated in the study, and their sleep quality was quantified using wrist actigraphy. The study found that greater sleep fragmentation was associated with higher homeostatic meal energy intake among children at high familial obesity risk. Sleep fragmentation was also related to higher and lower intake of carbohydrates and fat during EAH, respectively, suggesting alterations in taste preferences with poor sleep. These adverse associations of poor sleep with energy intake may be amplified among children predisposed to obesity.
