The World Health Organisation (WHO) previously issued a safety alert to regulators worldwide regarding the dangers of Pholcodine. Several countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia, have already withdrawn Pholcodine-containing preparations from their markets. The issue was discussed by India's drug regulator's Subject Expert Committee (SEC) in a recent meeting.

Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.
