A groundbreaking study explored the significance of dynamic electrocardiogram (ECG) remodeling in predicting sudden cardiac death (SCD). Drawing data from two prospective SCD studies in Oregon and California, the study examined 231 discovery cases (2015-2017) and 203 validation cases (2015-2021) with multiple archived pre-SCD ECGs. Results demonstrated a substantial increase in ECG electrical risk scores over time in SCD cases compared to controls, providing improved prediction beyond baseline ECG, demographics, and clinical risk factors. The findings highlight the potential of dynamic ECG remodeling as a novel SCD risk indicator.
