India faces a persistent tuberculosis (TB) challenge, marked by a record-high notification of 24.2 lakh cases in 2022, a 13% increase from 2021. The National TB Elimination Program aims to eradicate TB from India by 2025, aligning with the World Health Organization's global goal. Prevention through early detection and treatment of TB infection is a crucial strategy, with the Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) being a preferred testing method due to its accuracy and lack of interference with the BCG vaccine. Improved public awareness, expanded testing policies, and targeted treatment for high-risk groups are vital in India's efforts to combat TB.
