A study evaluated 126 pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) to identify early predictors of adverse neonatal (ANOs) and maternal outcomes (AMOs). Among 117 live births, 46.8% experienced ANOs, including fetal loss, preterm birth, small for gestational age, and complete heart block. The study revealed that early disease activity was the sole independent predictor of ANOs. Additionally, 48 patients experienced AMOs, with disease activity again emerging as a significant risk factor. These findings suggest that intensive management and follow-up are crucial for SLE patients with active disease during early pregnancy to improve outcomes.
