This study evaluated long-term medical resource utilization and costs for Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients in Taiwan using data from the National Health Insurance research database (2003–2018). Among 50,290 PD cases and 201,153 non-PD subjects, PD patients incurred significantly higher medical costs (1.31x) and drug costs (1.59x) than non-PD individuals. Costs increased with disease severity and follow-up duration, highlighting the economic burden of PD and the need for informed health policy decisions.
