EEG Monitoring Predicts Outcomes in Extremely Preterm Infants

Extremely preterm infants born before 28 weeks of gestation face a high risk of long-term neurodevelopmental issues. A study analyzed EEG data from the first postnatal days of these infants to predict their neurodevelopmental outcomes. Machine learning models demonstrated the potential to predict cognitive, motor, and behavioral problems in these infants. The findings suggest using early EEG monitoring as a valuable tool for decision-making and therapy planning.
