This study explores the impact of abdominal thickness, measured by DXA and discordant with BMI predictions, on FRAX-derived fracture probability. In 73,105 individuals, increasing abdominal thickness is associated with higher risks of major osteoporotic and hip fractures, independent of FRAX. Notably, age influences this effect, with more pronounced impacts before age 65. Diabetes patients show increased risk even with lower abdominal thickness.
